Los Angeles, CA – Two Killed in Train Crash on E 24th St near 10 Freeway

Los Angeles, CA (February 22, 2023) – Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department were summoned to provide help at the scene of a fatal car crash that took place on Monday evening, February 20.

At approximately 615 p.m., authorities were notified that an automobile accident took place on East 24th Street.

Preliminary reports indicate that a Metro A (Blue) line train was involved in a collision with the second vehicle in the area just south of 10 Freeway. The incident caused severe damage to the second vehicle.

Two people had to be extricated from the vehicle. Firefighters responded to the scene to remove the victims. They were both pronounced deceased on-site.

Three other people suffered injuries in the accident and had to be transported to a local hospital.

None of the nearly 125 passengers on board the train suffered any injuries.

The train operator was evaluated at the scene by paramedics.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are being investigated.
