Car Accidents in California
Car accidents can have an overwhelming impact on the lives of those involved. Unfortunately, tens of thousands of people are injured as a result of accidents that take place here in California every year. There are many cases where people are left with serious and life-threatening injuries due to the negligent and reckless actions of other drivers. Common factors that lead to devastating car accidents in our state every day include:
- Impairment: We see a significant number of motor vehicle accidents take place in California due to drivers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Drivers who are impaired are at an increased risk of losing control and striking other vehicles nearby.
- Distractions: Over the past decade, we have seen a significant uptick in the number of accidents that take place as a result of drivers who are texting or talking on their phones. Other distractions that commonly cause accidents include eating, talking to passengers in the backseat of vehicles, and checking their radios.
- Speeding: Drivers who are traveling too fast during inclement weather conditions or in other unsafe road conditions can lose control of their vehicle extremely easily. Unfortunately, speeding accidents often result in more significant injuries.
Tailgating: When traveling on our state’s busy highways, it is crucial that motorists maintain a safe distance from other vehicles around them. When they fail to do so and travel too closely to others, they may not have enough time to stop in order to avoid a collision.
Drivers who engage in reckless and negligent actions continue to be a leading factor in the majority of accidents across our state. Regrettably, these accidents often leave victims with injuries that completely alter their lives.
