Motorcycle Accidents in California
Motorcycle accidents occur every day in the United States. Statistics from 2019 provided by the National Highway traffic safety administration show that approximately 84,000 people were injured as a result of these accidents. Another 5014 people lost their lives as a result of the injuries they suffered.
Here in California, nearly 6000 people are affected by motorcycle accidents every single year. These accidents are often more serious than other types of collisions due to the fact that motorcyclists are completely exposed during their accidents. As a result, victims are more likely to suffer severe trauma to the head, broken bones, internal organ injuries, and even spinal cord injuries. These and other serious injuries can have a devastating impact on a victim’s ability to move forward.
Quite often, motorcyclists are wrongfully injured by drivers who engage in acts of negligence. Some of the common factors in motorcycle accidents include:
- Drivers who switch lanes recklessly without checking their blind spots.
- Drivers who run red lights at intersections or pass stop signs.
- Drivers who fail to yield the right-of-way.
- During accidents where drivers open their doors without checking for motorcyclists.
In California, victims who are wrongfully injured as a result of negligent drivers can take legal action. After being hurt in a motorcycle accident, a personal injury claim can help you seek compensation for some of the damages that you face. Even though no amount of money can take away the pain and suffering that your accident has caused you and your family, it can provide you with the financial resources that you need throughout the recovery process.
