Pedestrian Accidents in California
Every day, the lives of innocent pedestrians are completely turned upside down as a result of drivers who are reckless and negligent. Drivers who are unable to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly continue to cause harm to innocent people who are traveling on foot nearby. Pedestrians do not have protection during accidents. As a result, their injuries are often more severe than those who are inside vehicles. Common injuries that pedestrians are left with following accidents include:
- TBIs: traumatic brain injuries are incredibly debilitating. Victims who suffer from these often experience balance issues, memory problems, and more.
- Internal organ injuries: the force of the collision can result in significant internal organ injuries for victims. When the body is struck, especially at high forces, there is an increased risk that the victim will suffer broken ribs that puncture the lungs, spleen ruptures, and other internal organ damage.
- Broken bones: it is incredibly common for pedestrians to suffer from broken arms or legs during accidents. Unfortunately, the fact that these victims are completely exposed increases the chances of them suffering severe compound fractures in accidents. In some cases, victims may even lose their limbs.
- Spinal cord injuries: it is unfortunately common for pedestrians to suffer debilitating spinal cord injuries as a result of motor vehicle accidents. These injuries often leave victims paralyzed.
The unfortunate truth is that any type of motor vehicle accident can cause serious injuries that completely change the lives of victims. If you have the unfortunate experience of being hurt due to a motor vehicle accident caused by a negligent driver, you may have legal options that can help you move forward.
