Joshua Tree, CA (March 15, 2023) – Emergency crews have confirmed that 68-year-old Michael Reitz was severely hurt as a result of an accident that took place in the Joshua Tree area on Saturday afternoon. The accident was reported at around 12:20 p.m. on March 11.
According to officials, Reitz was driving east on Highway 62 in a Ford F2 50 pickup truck when his vehicle collided with the Nissan Rogue near Sunview Avenue.
The driver of the Nissan was fatally injured in the crash. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Reitz and his passenger, a 67-year-old female, were both injured. The two victims were transported to Hi-Desert Medical Center for the treatment of moderate injuries.
One person in the Rogue was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for the treatment of serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
