Sacramento, CA (February 25, 2023) – Two vehicles were involved in a collision on Friday evening that left at least one person with injuries. Calls for help came in just before 5:30 p.m. on February 24.
According to law enforcement, a small blue Honda Fit and a gray sedan collided on the westbound side of US Highway 50. The incident prompted officials to close off a portion of the road along the westbound side in the area near the State Route 99 Southbound connector.
Authorities remained at the scene for an extended period while working to remove the damaged vehicles and debris from the road.
Emergency medical services personnel provided treatment to victims who suffered injuries and transported those who required further assistance to area hospitals.
The California Highway Patrol is actively investigating to determine what caused the accident to take place.
Car Accidents in California
A car accident can impact your life forever. Not only do victims deal with painful physical and emotional injuries, but they often face significant financial burdens as well. Being harmed in an accident means that you may be required to go through extensive medical care and take time off work to recover. After suffering injuries in an accident, crash victims are often able to take legal action against the person responsible.
Victims who are injured in car crashes may be entitled to recover financial compensation for some of the losses and damages they sustained. There is no way to pre-determine the amount of compensation that an injured party will receive. Instead, there are generally several areas that are recoverable financially through a claim. Some of these include:
- Lost wages from being out of work to care for injuries
- Lost earnings for individuals forced out of work long-term or permanently
- Medical bills for all treatments related to the injuries from the accident
- Loss of companionship for spouses who are suffering
- Pain and suffering, which includes emotional and physical
- Mental anguish
- Loss of life quality
In some cases, you may be able to seek punitive damages as well. These damages are not designed to compensate a victim for any of their losses. Instead, they are awarded up to a certain amount depending on the severity of injuries and the level of negligence by the driver. Reaching out to a car accident lawyer in Sacramento as soon as possible will provide you with the best chance of getting the full amount of compensation to which you are entitled.
