Fatal Truck Accidents in California
Losing a loved one in a fatal car accident can be incredibly difficult to deal with. Unfortunately, hundreds of people in California die as a result of commercial vehicle accidents each year. Truck accidents are generally more complex when it comes to pursuing legal claims following these accidents.
Families who lose loved ones are able to file wrongful death claims against the responsible parties. However, when it comes to truck accidents, there are several parties who can be held liable for any resulting damages. Some of the liable parties and truck accidents include:
- The truck driver: If the driver of the truck was operating the vehicle irresponsibly, they can be held liable for any resulting damages.
- The trucking company: If the truck company was engaging in reckless practices while hiring workers, they could be held liable for any damages that their drivers have caused. Furthermore, if it is demonstrated that the trucking company failed to maintain their vehicle properly, they can be held liable for any accidents that were caused as a result.
- The cargo company: If a cargo company recklessly loaded the vehicle and it caused the vehicle to roll over and cause a serious accident, then a cargo loading company can be held liable for negligent practices.
- Parts manufacturers: If a defective or malfunctioning part caused a truck accident to occur, the manufacturer of the part or the vehicle could be held liable for the resulting damages.
