San Marcos, CA (March 1, 2023) – A fatal accident took place in the San Marcos area on Thursday morning that claimed one man’s life. The San Diego Sheriff’s Department was notified at approximately 7:00 a.m. on February 23 that their assistance was needed at the scene of a crash on South Rancho Santa Fe Road.
Reports from authorities indicate that a 53-year-old man from Ontario, California, was driving a Lincoln sedan South on South Rancho Santa Fe Road when a second vehicle traveling in the opposite direction crossed over the center divider and struck his vehicle head-on in the area near La Colusa Drive.
The driver of the Lincoln, identified as Camacho, was severely hurt in the crash. He was rushed to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he later passed away from his injuries.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating the accident.
