Car Accidents in California
Being hurt as a result of a car crash can have a devastating and overwhelming impact on your health and well-being. Unfortunately, tens of thousands of people are left with serious injuries following accidents in our state annually. Far too often are people injured as a result of driver negligence.
Accidents at intersections are typically caused by drivers who fail to yield the right-of-way to others. Additional causes of intersection accidents include drivers who run red lights, drivers who pass stop signs, and drivers who are simply distracted. Unfortunately, over 50% of the crashes that occur in our state take place at busy intersections.
If you have been hurt as a result of an automobile accident, you may be able to take legal action against the responsible party. In order to prevail, you must be able to clearly demonstrate that negligence existed at the time of the crash. This involves proving that the defendant owed you a duty of care. In California, licensed drivers are generally required to provide the duty of care to other motorists sharing the road. When drivers fail to do so, it is considered a breach of the duty of care. Drivers can breach the duty of care by operating their vehicles while intoxicated, distracted, or engaging in another reckless action. If the breach caused an accident that left you with damages, you are able to demand compensation for medical costs, lost wages, and a variety of other expenses you face. A Los Angeles car accident lawyer will be able to fight for fair compensation on your behalf.
