Bicycle Accidents in California
Bicycle accidents can be especially debilitating. Unfortunately, thousands of accidents take place in the United States involving bicyclists that result in severe injuries. It is incredibly common for bicyclists to suffer severe spinal cord injuries, broken bones, and even internal organ injuries, despite the fact that they usually wear helmets while occupying their vehicles.
When bicyclists are injured in accidents, it is important to be able to identify the cause. In many instances, innocent riders are left with severe and debilitating injuries and accidents due to drivers who recklessly operate their vehicles. Leading factors in bicycle accidents that take place here in California include drivers who are speeding, impaired by drugs or alcohol, distracted while behind the wheel, or engaging in other reckless actions.
If you have suffered injuries in a car crash due to the negligent or reckless actions of another motorist, you may be able to seek financial compensation for the losses and damages you face. It is critical to understand that California provides damages to victims based on the comparative negligence doctrine. This law states that victims are awarded compensation for the amount of damages that they suffer from the person who caused them harm.
If a victim contributed to the accident in any way, the amount of damages they can recover would be reduced in proportion to the amount of fault they share for the crash. This can make a significant difference when it comes to the amount of money you are able to recover for your lost wages, medical expenses, and more.
