Derek Monzon, Esq. is a Trial Attorney at Wilshire Law Firm, where he focuses his practice on personal injury law. A licensed attorney for over 12 years, Derek is admitted to practice law in four states: California, Washington, Kentucky, and Indiana.

Derek has seen personal injury claims from virtually every side of the industry. Before becoming a plaintiff’s attorney, he worked as an insurance adjuster, a subrogation attorney, and a defense attorney. This unique experience gives him an inside understanding of how the other side evaluates and defends cases, and today he puts it to work exclusively for injured people.

Over his career, Derek has recovered tens of millions of dollars for his clients, including numerous seven-figure settlements in multiple jurisdictions. He is just as prepared to take a case to trial. He was a member of the Wilshire Law Firm trial team that secured a multi-million-dollar jury verdict for a client, and he recently obtained a favorable jury verdict as lead trial counsel. Those experiences and many others have made Derek a fearless advocate for the people he represents.

What drives Derek is a commitment to protecting his clients’ rights against the large corporations that seek to exploit them. He is proud to be a plaintiff’s attorney who represents only injured victims, giving a voice to people in their time of need. His guiding philosophy is simple: treat your client the way you would want to be treated. A favorite saying keeps him focused: “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t — you’re right.”

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Derek earned his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Louisville and his J.D. from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, and he remains a proud Cardinals fan. He is a member of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA). Outside the office, Derek enjoys spending time with his wife and family, playing the guitar, and traveling to explore new places and experience different cultures.
