Personal Injury
The I-10, I-215 and SR-210 freeways all run through the San Bernardino area, with mountain highways climbing just north of the city, and crashes on those roads cause some of the most serious brain injuries in the Inland Empire. Wilshire Law Firm, an award-winning, nationally recognized team, represents San Bernardino County families from our nearby Riverside office. Want a free case review, 24/7? There are no fees unless you get paid.

Explore essential resources on your rights, your options, and what to expect — everything you need to navigate the legal process, all in one place.
The Inland Counties Emergency Medical Agency designates the region's trauma centers. Severe head injuries are taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton or Loma Linda University Medical Center, both Level I, and children go to Loma Linda University Children's Hospital, a Level I pediatric center. After the acute phase, Loma Linda University Health's inpatient rehabilitation includes a dedicated brain injury program. The trauma team's notes, imaging and rehabilitation progress reports document both the injury and its trajectory, and they are among the first records we request.
Interstates 10, 15 and 215 carry heavy truck traffic through the county, and SR-210 and SR-259 move commuters through the city. North of town, SR-18 climbs into the San Bernardino Mountains, where curves, grades and winter weather make crashes more dangerous. A collision with a semi or a rollover on a mountain grade can cause the kind of brain injury that requires lifelong care, and those cases often involve several defendants and commercial insurers. We also handle head injuries from falls on unsafe property, from Omnitrans bus incidents, and from crashes involving pedestrians and motorcyclists.
Unlimited civil cases for the San Bernardino area are filed at the San Bernardino Justice Center, Civil Division, 247 W. 3rd St.; the courthouses in Rancho Cucamonga and Victorville also accept unlimited civil cases for their districts. Under the court's local rules, every complaint must include a Certificate of Assignment, and each case is assigned to a judge for all purposes when it is filed. The general deadline for a brain injury lawsuit is two years from the injury (Code of Civil Procedure §335.1), and medical-negligence claims follow their own clock of three years from the injury or one year from discovery (Code of Civil Procedure §340.5).
A claim against a public agency must be presented within six months of the injury (Gov. Code §911.2), and getting it to the right office matters. The City of San Bernardino takes claims through its City Clerk, in person at 201 North E St. or by mail to 290 North D St. San Bernardino County handles injury claims through its Risk Management Division on West Hospitality Lane rather than the Clerk of the Board. If an Omnitrans bus was involved, the claim goes to Omnitrans. Our public transportation accident guide explains how transit claims work.
We don't have a San Bernardino office. San Bernardino clients work with our Riverside team, which meets by appointment at 3880 Lemon St., Suite 410, and a legal professional can start your free case review by phone, 24/7. We prepare brain injury cases with treating physicians, neuropsychologists and life-care planners, because the size of the claim depends on proving decades of future care. TopVerdict's 2025 California rankings list 31 of our personal injury settlements in the state's top 100. Past results do not guarantee a similar outcome. How Do I Know If I Have a San Bernardino Brain Injury Claim?
If a driver, trucking company, property owner, product maker or public agency in San Bernardino County failed to act carefully and a head injury followed, you may have a claim. The injury may not look serious at first; a concussion from a crash on I-215 can bring memory and concentration problems weeks later. Keep your medical records and a log of symptoms. A legal professional can review what happened for free, 24/7, and there are no fees unless you get paid. If a city, county or Omnitrans vehicle was involved, remember the six-month claim deadline.
